gLite RGMA GIN

1. Release Description

This release contains the gLite R-GMA gin module v. 5.0.0. The following sections provide additional information about the release content, the module dependencies, the know bugs and issues and a list of bugs closed since the previous release. For information about installing and using the gLite RGMA gin, please refer to the gLite Installation and User Guides.

2. Changes in this release

This release introduces the following changes:

Functionality changes:

R-GMA uses new Glue tables for schema and registry
R-GMA server and clients can run in secure and insecure mode:

The server always runs the secure mode, the insecure mode can be enabled in addition.
Clients can connect to the server either via the secure or via the insecure port (if enabled)

This module is compatible with the LCG release 2.4.0

Deployment and configuration changes:

Command line changes for configuration script:

No option given shows help
--configure configures service (but does not start service)
--start starts service
--cemon=yes|no to run the CE backend for GIN

Configuration parameters

§ rgma.secure.mode added (change between secure and insecure mode)

§ rgma.gin.run_ce_provider removed (is no command line option and configuration parameter in CE)

R-GMA user is created by deployment module
Support of secure (using port 8443) and insecure mode (using port 8080)

There is a known incompatibility between gLite release 1.1 and 1.2. For details and workarounds in the R-GMA server to run 1.1 clients (e.g. the R-GMA servicetool) publishing in a 1.2 server, please see the R-GMA server release notes.
