Release Notes  for LCG-2_3_1

Changes from LCG-2_3_0 to LCG-2_3_1

This release is motivated by the need to close some of the security holes discovered recently.

Some of the documentation, that is still valid, has not been updated to reflect the new release number.
Please read in these documents  LCG-2_3_1 for every LCG-2_3_0 you encounter. 


The following services are affected:
====================================

* edg-fetch-crl

A new RPM is provided that closes the problem with predictable temporary filenames
No configuration change needed.

* a new set of RPMs for the RB

Access to the sandboxes of other users is no longer possible.
This patch has been applied to the version of the WLM software that includes the DLI interface to catalogs.
Please read the upgrade note!

* lcg-info-generic

The world writable script now has correct permissions set.
Please read the upgrade note.

For some packages, which have been around for some time, we decided to add them to this release.

None of them requires a configuration change!

* lcg_utils

This version has much clearer error messages. A few other issues have been fixed in addition.

* edg-rm

This has been replaced by a wrapper for lcg_utils. This improves the performance significantly.
Note that the edg-rm printInfo command is no longer supported.
Instead the lcg-infosites commands provide the same functionality and have been upgraded to the
latest version.

* BDII

Here the slapd cache size has been adjusted to avoid serious performance issues.
Installing the RPM is sufficient.

* lcg-info providers

Many bug fixes are included in this release.

* YAIM

As we did in the last 3 months YAIM is not tied to the release,
but we provide always the latest stable version.
